ll-plugins is a small collection of LV2 plugins and a host that runs them. All plugins are installed in separate LV2 bundles (except the ones that are closely related, like the math-constant plugins or the mono and stereo versions of the peak meter). The GUIs, for the plugins that have GUIs, are installed in bundles of their own to make it easier for packagers to put them in separate binary packages to avoid Gtk dependencies for the plugins themselves. There are synths, event processors, simple audio and control manipulators and GUI-based plugins.

Nyquist is an elegant and powerful language for
sound synthesis and music composition. Unlike
score languages that tend to deal only with
events, or signal processing languages that tend
to deal only with signals and synthesis, it
handles both in a single integrated system. It is
also flexible and easy to use because it is based
on an interactive Lisp interpreter. You can design
instruments by combining functions (much as you
would using the orchestra languages of Music V,
cmusic, or Csound). You can call upon these
instruments and generate a sound just by typing a
simple expression. You can combine simple
expressions into complex ones to create a whole
composition. It runs under any Unix environment,
MacOS, Windows 95, and Windows NT, and it
produces sound files as output (or direct audio
output under Windows).

The Analysis & Resynthesis Sound Spectrograph analyzes
a sound file into a spectrogram and is able to
synthesize this spectrogram, or any other
user-created image, back into a sound.

Sound Mural is a picture-to-sound converter. A PBM/PGM/PPM file is read on stdin and a WAV file is written on stdout. The image is treated as a spectrogram. Examples can be seen and heard on the Sound Mural Web page.

LS-DJ is an fm synthesizer with a rudimentary console UI and tracker. It
supports BSD, OSS, ALSA, and jack.

Audiality is a highly scalable and portable audio engine and
synthesizer. MIDI files are used in combination with scripting and
modular synthesis, to minimize file sizes and maximize flexibility.
Audiality can be used as a music and sound effects player in
multimedia productions, or as a realtime MIDI synthesizer.

Q-Synth is a library for interfacing with
real-time software synthesizers (especially James
McCartney's SuperCollider) in the Q programming
language, using CNMAT's OSC protocol. Sample Q
scripts and a Tk GUI for interfacing to
SuperCollider are included.

Cumulus is a software synthesizer which implements the Asynchronous Grain
Synthesis. This synthesis allows you to create very original sounds to be used
in your music (mainly percussive and ambient background sounds). It features a
convenient QT-based GUI where each paramter can be controlled by an envelope,
the ability for all parameters to be controlled with hardware controllers
(MIDI-controllerbox), an interface to use a MIDI-keyboard (polyphony
adjustable, default 8 voices), internal 32-bit accuracy, an internal sampling
rate that can be any multiple of the external one, and full realtime capability
with parameter changes audible within around 50ms, depending on system latency.

Calf is a set of audio effect plugins. Several
plugins are provided: flanger, reverb, multimode
filter, vintage delay, phaser, simple monophonic
VA synthesizer, and organ/pad synthesizer.
LADSPA+LRDF, DSSI, and LV2 versions are available,
as well as GTK+ based UIs and a standalone
application using GTK+2 and JACK.

ga-synthesis is a simple, portable interface to compare project analytics. It is designed to assist project managers. By measuring market penetration and the effect of different kinds of development on project sustainability, it can assist with decision making.

gsyn is internally designed to be an extensible, modular synthesizer, but the interface and current codebase present a Roland TB-303 emulator which is programmed using fasttracker-style note entry. It also features delay reverb and distortion, so the sound is comparable to Propellerhead's ReBirth RB-338. gsyn has been compiled and tested under Linux 2.[01], IRIX 6.2, Solaris 2.6, Windows 95, and Windows NT.

Soundtank is a program that hosts musical instruments for
you to play; each instrument can be controlled via MIDI. You
can create custom instruments and save them to files, and
can also load instruments that other people create. It relies
on LADSA plugins, as it has no built-in sound synthesis
algorithms, but hosts them in "realtime objects" which
embody the structure of the audio signal flow. RTObjects can
be controlled in a completely customizable fashion using
MIDI events sent through the ALSA sequencer interface.
Soundtank outputs audio through ALSA or JACK.

hYPerSonic allows you to build and manipulate signal processing pipelines from Python scripts. It is designed for real-time control. It includes objects for oscillators, filters, file IO, and soundcard and memory operations. It is low-level: every byte counts.

XChestival is an improved version of xchat_speak
designed for Italian. It lets xchat and irssi
"speak" through festival. It comes with a script
for xchat and irssi and the Italian phonemes. The
scripts have some useful features like channels
and query filtering and string substitution.
